This includes expats and local citizens who are up to age 70 or 74 at the time of applying, depending on where you live. Their policies offer guaranteed and lifetime renewability, meaning that you can continue to renew your Luma health insurance plan as long as you continue to pay your premium. Luma cannot kick you off your plan at your renewal date based on your claims experience or health conditions.

Luma health insurance offers 3 regular coverage areas:

  • Zone A: Worldwide excl. USA
  • Zone B: Worldwide excl. USA, China, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Japand and Swtizerland –
  • Zone C: Worldwide excl. USA, China, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Switzerland, Russia, Singapore, Brazil, Taiwan and the UK

You are free to get treatment anywhere in your regular coverage area, so if you wanted to choose to go to Europe for example, then you have full 100% coverage in your regular coverage area.

Emergeny Coverage Area

Like many modern health insurance providers, Luma offers an Emergency Coverage Area benefit. This provides you emergency coverage while you’re traveling to any excluded country for a temporary trip. This will cover you for emergency hospitalization only.

For example, if you took Zone C and were traveling in Hong Kong and need to be hospitalized due to a medical emergency, then you’re still covered. If you were in Hong Kong and needed an outpatient visit, then you would not be. Also in this example, you couldn’t choose to go have a procedure or other treatment in Hong Kong, unless you took Zone A.

Emergency Coverage Area covers you up to $250,000 for temporary trips up to 60 days per trip.

Luma health insurance offers 4-5 different levels of plans depending on which plan your on: Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia or International.

With all Luma plans, they will add more benefits as you increase the plan number. Luma health insurance uniquely packages dental, maternity and vision benefits into a package together. So if you want routine dental coverage, you must also take vision and maternity.

With Luma health insurance, all members of a family are required to have the same plan level. You cannot mix and match between different family members based on everyone’s unique needs. However, they do offer a very generous 20% off discount for families with 4+ people.
